Advising on self-custodied or held-away assets does not require a qualified custodian relationship. You can exercise discretion over client portfolios without ever taking custody or being able to take control over your client assets. However, if you are already working with a qualified custodian and they offer onchain/web3 custody solutions, you may also use L1 from a qualified custody environment as our platform is custody agnostic. We recommend advisors working with clients who are self-custodying their assets to maintain supervision, records, disclosures, client approvals, and clean evidence which stays available onchain and L1 makes available from the advisor interface.
